Boomercast Game of the Week: Lawton vs Lawton Eisenhower

Written By Robert Jager @RobertJager12

The time has finally come, the air is changing and autumn leaves will be falling soon. That can mean only one thing: it's football season baby! Strap 'em up, hold on tight because it's going to be a fun and exciting ride this season. One of the biggest games I am excited for is Lawton Eisenhower taking on Lawton High at Cameron Stadium under the lights on August 30th to open the season.

Coach Javon Harris has his Eagle squad thirsty and eager to hit somebody. What better way to start off the season than playing a crosstown rival under the lights. The Eagles bring back some explosive weapons on the offensive side of the ball. Rashaud Hurt is a fitting name for the 6-foot-1 210 pound running back. Hurt will make you remember the time you tried to tackle him. The class of 2025 bruiser has deceptive speed and a motor that absolutely does not stop. The electricity does not stop there for the Eagles, as versatile athlete Serri Sheridan comes back faster and stronger, adding healthy bulk to his frame. If want to see lighting in a bottle, make your way down to Lawton and get eyes on Sheridan. Sheridan has legit track speed and he has the quickness to make defenders miss in the open field. He is a savvy route runner and this enables him to get open often.

Eisenhower has one of the top signal callers in the Lawton area returning this season. Charlie Trachte is back to lead his Eagles to a deep playoff run in his 3rd year as the starter under center. He has multi-year game experience playing at a high level, he has a live arm and is also a student of the game.

I expect the Lawton Eisenhower Eagles to excel this year, taking a big leap and building off the success they found late in the season in 2023. I had the opportunity to speak with Coach Harris and I walked away quite impressed. “Football creates a different discipline in a man and the way he lives his life. There is a solid brotherhood if you’re on the right team. You can build off of football and take that work ethic into the real world.” Those are the words of Coach Harris when asked about the game of football. I don't know about you, but in my opinion that is the kind of coach I would want helping my kids develop into upstanding young men on and off the field. If you were wondering about his competitiveness, I asked him if he could compete in the Oklahoma drill against anyone dead or alive and he was quick to call out the big dawgs. There were three running backs on his list Barry Sanders, Reggie Bush and Adrian Peterson, who he would have loved to lock horns with. It is safe to say Coach Javon Harris is not afraid of any squad or player, and his mighty mighty Eagles of Lawton Eisenhower are going to show the world!
